Graduated medical school in 1970. Completed rotating internship and one-year surgical residency. Called to active duty as a Berry Plan recipient. Received no basic training but met
the service obligation at the Reynolds Army Hospital, Fort Sill, assistant to orthopedic surgery, caring for soldiers returning from Vietnam. He was honorably discharged and returned to complete his surgery residency and fellowships in Traumatology.

Graduated from medical school in 1966 at the height of the Vietnam War as a Berry Plan recipient. Active duty was deferred, permitting completion of an internship and OB/GYN residency. The active-duty assignment was the DeWitt Army Hospital, Fort Belvoir, VA. Care was provided to dependent wives and active- duty female personnel. This duty was professionally rewarding and created an appreciation and understanding of the many duty time forged enduring friendships that continue today. It was an honor to have served. I was honorably discharged in July 1973. The time spent at Fort Belvoir was invaluable in the transition to private practice in Dover.

I joined the Army Reserve in 1970, age 24. I went to Fort Polk, LA, for basic/AIT infantry training. I was enlisted-E5 when I started medical school in 1973. After graduating, I joined the 116th Mobile Army Surgical Hospital (MASH), a unit of
the Delaware Army National Guard. I was appointed as a First (induction and discharge physicals, line-of-duty injuries, medical took our unit to numerous military facilities, wherein our MASH unit worked with the on-site hospital/medical facilities, as well as combat units. I retired after 32 years of service as a Colonel, having been awarded an Army Achievement Medal and the Meritorious Service Medal. We were a well-trained unit that was never activated during my tenure. I met and worked with many good people.

I graduated from medical school in 1967. Following post- doctoral completion of surgical and orthopedic training, I joined the United States Army as a Berry Plan participant and served two years at Womack Army Hospital, Fort Bragg, NC. This
experience as an orthopedic surgeon — involving orthopedic trauma and related complications, as well as general orthopedic disorders — set the stage for private practice. I came to Delaware in 1975 and practiced until retirement in June 2017.

By virtue of the Berry Plan, upon graduation from medical school in 1961, I was called to active duty, reported to Martin Army Hospital, Fort Benning, GA. No basic training was provided. I served as a pediatrician, and from 1967-68, was Chief of Pediatrics. As part
of serving on active duty, there is an appointment to a mobilization active-duty unit. In my instance, it was the 11th Air Assault Division.
While at Fort Benning, this unit’s designation was changed to the 1st Air Cavalry and it was sent to Vietnam. Fellow resident Felix Santiago was mobilized to this unit. I remained at Fort Benning.

Graduated from medical school in 1971. Completed an Internal Medicine internship 1971-1972. Entered the U.S. Army Medical Corps with the rank of Captain in 1972, after a Berry Plan deferment. Attended Basic Training at Fort Sam Houston, TX. Was Honor Graduate of the Academy of Health Sciences there. My initial assignment after Basic was to Vietnam, but that was changed to Fort Dix, NJ. At Fort Dix, I mostly took care
of basic trainees and returning soldiers from Vietnam. Some were suffering from what today is diagnosed as PTSD, and drug in 1974 and was honorably discharged in 1978. I completed my Internal Medicine Residency in 1976 and began my practice in Wilmington.
