provided by Prayus T. Tailor, MD. It was noted that the annual audit was performed and a clean report was given. The 2019 budget is balanced with a surplus projected, which includes a grant provided from the Delaware Foundation for Medical Services, Ltd. The Treasurer’s Report also included the status of membership, showing a decrease in paid members compared to the same time in 2018.
Through the recommendation of the Budget and Finance Committee, a Task Force was formed to review revenues and expenses of the Society, with
the goal of developing other revenue sources to help in achieving balanced budgets in the future. Membership dues revenue comprises a sizable portion
of the Society’s revenues; however, membership has been declining.
The Task Force will look at MSD’s subsidiaries as ways to increase revenues with the products and services available. Membership will continue to support the Society’s goals and develop other revenue-generating activities. A goal has been established to achieve
a net increase of 50 new members in 2019. Dr. Tailor indicated membership has a dual path in retaining current membership while also bringing in new members. He noted that the most effective way to achieve this is for members to talk to their colleagues about the important work MSD does on their behalf.
MSD will look to increase sponsorships with organizations. He mentioned that expenses associated with the Annual Meeting and Inaugural Gala activities have been decreased. Revenue streams through initiatives, such as the electronic prior authorization project and the MedNet/ HealthEC partnership, are anticipated to bring increased value to members. An annual planned giving program is anticipated to be launched in 2019. A
