His calm demeanor, tactful diplomacy, and expert leadership have been essential to our Society during his near 30-year tenure.
Meister is a dedicated and tireless leader for the medical profession.”
One regret of my presidency is that I will have only gotten to work with Mark for a short six months, but Mark has been the adept counsel to many presidents before me. Therefore, I reached out to them to share some of their thoughts.
“A quiet leader, who lets others take the credit for his hard work. One of a dying breed, a true Christian gentleman,” shared Dr. Steve Permut (President 1992-1993).
Dr. Leo Raisis (President 2001-2002) wrote, “Mark and I came to Delaware 28 years ago and I have known Mark to be the face of the Medical Society of Delaware representing patients and physicians with integrity and medical community.”
“I moved to Seaford from Pennsylvania to start my practice around the same time the Medical Society recruited Mark Meister to be our executive director. In my opinion, one of the best decisions the Society ever here to help guide me during the year of my presidency,” wrote Dr. Joseph Olekszyk (President 2002-2003).
Dr. Joseph Hacker (President 2003- 2004) said, “Mark has been the heart and soul of MSD for many years. His knowledge and steady leadership has led to much
of the success of MSD. He certainly made my time as President a very rewarding experience.”
Dr. Janice Tildon-Burton (President 2005- 2007) stated, “His work ethic, demeanor, and institutional knowledge made an indelible impression on me. Mark Meister is an MSD treasure.”
Dr. Kelly Eschbach (President 2007-2008) shared, “He has spent almost every Father’s Day and birthday for the past 25 or 30 years in Chicago at the AMA meeting on behalf of MSD and not with his own family.”
“My ‘bro’ Mark Meister has been a true and effective leader who has, at times, tamed the beast in me and advised me well during my presidency. He taught me to be patient during the various injustices that our Society faced from outside sources. His leadership and support have set an example
for me in my daily life challenges. He will be hard to replace,” said Dr. Nicholas Biasotto (President 2008-2010).
Dr. Dorothy Moore (President 2015-2016) shared, “Mark has always had sage advice. Whenever there is a problem he always has the best, most sound advice. I have called on him many times and could always count on him.”
I know I speak for all the physicians in
the State of Delaware, when I say that
we so gratefully thank Mark Meister for
his decades of unwavering support to
the patients and physicians of Delaware. Mark has helped to shape our centuries
old Society into one that will endure for centuries more. He has surrounded himself with an expert team that will certainly make the next executive director’s job a lot easier. All the best in your retirement, Mark!
