What prompted you to decide to join MSD? I feel a commitment to support the medical community of Delaware as a practicing ophthalmologist. I therefore felt the MSD was the professional extension of that commitment representing the medical community.
What is your hometown? North Bergen, New Jersey.
What made you come to Delaware? out of residency to join a prior acquaintance, Dr. Robert Abel, in the practice of ophthalmology.
When did you decide to go into medicine and why? I always was interested in science and had several doctor mentors growing
rooms in high school and college. I was attracted to medicine by the nature of being able to care for people and by virtue of your acquired skill make a positive impact in their life.
What do you like to do in your spare time? I am an avid
traveler.
What would you like to see MSD work on? I have had the opportunity to do health care outreach both in Delaware and abroad. There is a large unmet need for care in Delaware that
Where do you see yourself in 10 years? Although one never knows at this stage in a career, I still love taking care of patients and leisure time to prevent burnout. I imagine in 10 years, I will still be practicing at a reduced pace if able and hopefully enjoy

The Voluntary Initiative Program (VIP), administered by the Medical Society of Delaware, needs your help!
VIP is a network of Delaware primary care and specialty physicians who offer their medical services at a reduced fee or no fee to uninsured Delawareans. The fee scale and number of patients accepted is decided by each participating physician.
VIP patients are living at or below 200% the Federal Poverty Level (FPL), and are not eligible for Medicaid or are exempt/ineligible for the Healthcare Marketplace. They are truly Delaware’s most vulnerable.

If you are a practicing urologist, neurologist, psychiatrist, gastroenterologist or infectious disease specialist, please think about helping Delaware’s most vulnerable by joining VIP.
