         KENT COUNTY:
Special Supplement Contributed by Choose Central Delaware (
Kent County is the center of Delaware, less than two hours from Philadelphia, Washington, DC and New York City. This ease of access makes it a prime candidate for relocation
or expansion! Central Delaware is especially well-suited for companies in the distribution, warehousing/logistics, health care, business services and manufacturing sectors.
Kent County’s specially trained workforce is an excellent fit for your logistics needs. Central Delaware’s highway system is easy to navigate and well-maintained, providing a fast route to I-95. Low land costs and low taxes enable you to put extra money back
into your business. Those advantages have already attracted many other employers that call the area home, including legacy manufacturers such as Kraft Heinz Company and Procter & Gamble.
In 2020, Utah-based National Vinyl Products and Maryland-based Shoreline Vinyl jointly purchased a former paint manufacturing plant in Dover and converted it into a state-of-the-art
extrusion plant for PVC fence and rail products. The plant employs more than 80 workers as equipment operators, quality control and plant/equipment maintenance personnel. Also in 2020, packaging producer Delmarva Corrugated Packaging announced plans to build a new, 450,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Dover. The $80 million state-of-the-art facility completed construction in 2021 and plans to employ 150.
Despite these recent additions, there are plenty of shovel-ready sites left for operations of all sizes. That includes the Garrison Oak Business & Technology Park just outside of Dover and the Duck Creek Business Campus in Smyrna. Exciting opportunities for the future include the Central Delaware Aviation Complex, the East Dover Industrial Area and Harrington Industrial Park, where a proposed multimodal rail facility will be located.
