DELAWARE PROSPERITY PARTNERSHIP: Promoting Delaware — Where the World Chooses to Do Business www.choosedelaware.com
As Delaware Prosperity Partnership (DPP) enters its fourth year of operation, the future looks brighter than ever for Delawareans as more job opportunities come with more businesses choosing Delaware. The state’s public-private model of economic development has not only taken firm root, but it proves that Delaware excels at collaboration, productive partnerships and shepherding innovation. Since forming in 2017, DPP has been making greater and greater progress in advancing its four-pillar mission of attracting new businesses to the state; retaining and engaging existing businesses as they make plans for expansion; building a stronger entrepreneurial and innovation ecosystem; and assisting employers in building a more diverse tech talent pipeline and addressing other talent pool needs.
Working with statewide partners in 2020, DPP helped Delaware take two major steps toward enhancing its reputation as an innovation hub that grows scalable science and technology companies and successfully competes for business expansion and relocation projects. The Delaware Science & Tech Advisors is comprised of representatives from Delaware’s top science and tech companies, industry organizations, institutions of higher education and state government who are focusing on being more intentional and strategic about advancing Delaware’s statewide scientific and technological innovation economy. A pilot

grant program designed to expand Delaware’s inventory of ready-to-go lab space is spurring private-sector-led projects to help the state attract and retain science and tech companies.
Throughout its history, DPP’s focus on advancing Delaware‘s culture of innovation has supported mature, existing
enterprises such as Solenis and Adesis, along with promising enterprises in the earlier stages of growth, such as Prelude Therapeutics. Delaware ranks 8th on Bloomberg’s United States Innovation Index, 9th on the Milken Institute’s State Technology and Science Index and 2nd on Amazon’s list
of Most Digital Entrepreneurs Per Capita. Delaware also boasts the nation’s #10 startup ecosystem and one of the highest per-capita patent rates and has been among the best- ranked states for data innovation and initial public offerings. With such an emphasis on innovation and its status as the #1 business legal climate and the state with the #2 lowest cost of doing business, it’s no wonder Delaware is attracting more and more innovators in high-tech agriculture, advanced chemical manufacturing, fintech and other sectors.
“Encouraging innovation and entrepreneurism benefits not only the more seasoned businesses that call Delaware home,” says KURT FOREMAN, DPP president and CEO, “but also encourages innovators from around the nation and the world to choose Delaware as the site where their next big idea will grow from concept to creation.”
