PRESENTING SPONSOR
The University of Delaware, founded in 1743, is the eighth-oldest university in the country. UD’s storied tradition of academic excellence continues today in both the classroom and laboratory, with consistent ranking among the top 40 public universities. Beyond its Georgian-inspired main campus in Newark, Delaware, UD has locations across the state—in Wilmington, Dover, George- town and Lewes.
UD is a state-assisted, privately governed institution and one of a select group of institutions in the United States to hold the triple land-grant, sea-grant and space-grant designation. The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching classifies UD as a research university with very high research activity—a designation accorded less than 3% of U.S. colleges and universities. UD ranks among the nation’s top 100
universities in federal R&D support for science and engineering.
UD offers a broad range of degree programs: four associate programs, 140 bachelor’s programs, 144 master’s programs (with 16 dual degrees offered within) and 60 doctoral programs through its nine colleges. Our physical therapy program is the top-ranked gradu- ate program in the nation. The university’s student body encompasses more than 18,000 undergraduates, more than 4,000 graduate students and more than 700 students in professional and continuing studies from across the country and around the globe. UD’s distinguished faculty includes internationally known authors, scientists and artists, Guggenheim, Fulbright and National Academy of Inventors fellows, and members of the National Academy of Sciences, National Academy of Engineering and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. The university is fortunate to have an alumni base of more than 186,000 in 148 countries, representing a unique global ambassador community eager to support the university’s mission and pursuits.

Market disruptions often result in transformative
breakthroughs and for Delaware we have several new
developments that will pay dividends for years to come.
DPP has worked with partners statewide to create two
significant resources that will nurture the innovation
ecosystem throughout Delaware. The first, the Delaware Science and Tech Advisors group, takes an intentional, strategic approach to enhancing Delaware’s reputation as an innovation hub that grows scalable companies and successfully competes for business expansion and relocation projects. The Advisors’ first report on next steps to advance Delaware’s scientific and technological ecosystem will be presented to stakeholders this summer. The second initiative, the Delaware Lab Space Grant pilot program, addresses the overwhelming nationwide demand for ready-to-go advanced laboratory space for the growing biology and chemistry wet lab-based companies that contribute the valuable research and
development activity that drives innovation economies. With $3 million earmarked from the Delaware Strategic Fund, the program intends to spur private-sector investment in Delaware by helping science and tech companies with expenses associated with building advanced lab space – ensuring that existing small companies can start and grow right here in Delaware as well as helping Delaware attract new companies. DPP is committed to collaborating with our partners statewide to support the breakthrough businesses that already have chosen Delaware, as well as attracting new innovators throughout the world to choose our state as the launchpad on their next big idea. The future is bright for Delaware as it continues to be recognized as a great place to work, live and play.
