The Delaware Biotechnology Institute’s (DBI) mission is to advance biotechnology research, technology transfer, education, and workforce development. DBI is a magnet for cutting-edge life science research conducted by world-class scientists. It houses state-of-the-art bioimaging, genome sequencing, and bioinformatics facilities, operated by internationally recognized expert staff. DBI facilitates access to these resources by both academic partners (University of Delaware, Delaware State University, Delaware Technical and Community College, Wesley College, Christiana Care Health System, and Nemours/A.I. DuPont Hospital for Children) and Delaware’s rapidly expanding biotechnology industry.
By fostering academic-industrial research partnerships through a strong statewide network, DBI supports the entire biotechnology
ecosystem from start-ups to multi-national companies. DBI founded the Delaware Bioscience Center for Advanced Technology (Bioscience CAT ) program, which seeds collaborative partnerships to drive economic growth throughout the state. The Bioscience CAT program helps to attract, retain and create new high-tech jobs for the First State.
DBI inspires and trains the next generation of scientists to further support biotechnology in Delaware. Through a range of outreach programs, the DBI connects scientists to students and teachers from K-12 through college. As a hub for cutting-edge life science research, the DBI serves as an advanced academic training ground for scientists in training to enter the biotechnology workforce at the forefront of their field.
DBI, our science changes the world.
