Like so many couples these days, Sarah Satinsky and Michael Honeychuck met online, connecting on Match.com in November 2017. “Both of us feel like it’s more powerful to get to know somebody in person,” says Sarah, who’d recently relocated to Delaware from her native Texas. After a successful first date at Capers & Lemons in Wilmington, it became apparent that their match transcended the digital world.
Soon enough, the two began ring shopping,
with a diamond stone that once belonged to Sarah’s grandmother. Both wanted an intimate setting for
a proposal, and Mike found the perfect spot. In September 2019, nearly two years after they’d met, the couple took a sunset walk at White Clay Creek State Park, where Mike gave her the ring. The couple celebrated at Eclipse Bistro in Wilmington, the site of their second date.
They planned a wedding in Dallas so Sarah’s grandparents could attend.
Even with the uncertainty of the pandemic, the couple sent out invitations, hoping for the best. “We were excited,” says Sarah.
Just a month before their wedding, lockdowns were still in place, so the couple opted for a virtual ceremony from their home in Wilmington. “All the uncertainty went away, because we’d finally picked a plan where we could control all the variables and we didn’t have to rely on places being open or not,” Sarah says. “In Delaware at the time, only 10 people were allowed at in-person
