EDITOR’S LETTER
Embracing Change
Outgoing editor Merrill Witty spent the better part of three decades making The Hunt a sophisticated reflection of all the things that make life in the Brandywine Valley so special. Witty is staying on as our travel editor, and we’re making a few other changes that should only enhance our mission statement.
It’s time to lend a face—indeed, faces—to the publication we’re proud to produce every few months. As a Chester County native and the editor-in-chief of our sister publication, Main Line Today, I’ve had numerous opportu- nities to take advantage of all the Brandywine Valley region has to offer.
Joining me is executive editor Lisa Dukart, who was born and raised in Garnet Valley, Pa. It was Dukart’s idea to tweak our Noted and Shop! sections. Each is now an attractive two- page spread that more creatively incorporates images and design elements. Dukart is also editing our revamped website.
An increased emphasis on first-class design and photography can be seen throughout this issue of The Hunt—and you can expect that
to continue with Jim Graham as our new contributing editor. A former staff photogra- pher with the News Journal and the Delaware County Daily Times, Graham has been shoot- ing for The Hunt since 1994. Twice nominated for the Pulitzer Prize, he’s been been published in National Geographic Traveler, Vanity Fair, Town & Country, Newsweek, Golf Journal and many other magazines.
Currently based in Centreville, Del., Graham grew up in the Unionville-Chadds Ford, Pa., area and has served as a committee member for the Pennsylvania Hunt Cup, Cheshire Point-to-Point and Willowdale Steeplechase. He’s also a founding member of the Brandywine River Museum of Art’s Young Friends of the Brandywine. Without him,
The Hunt wouldn’t be the magazine it is today.
And without you, there would be no Hunt magazine. We hope you enjoy the changes to come.
