The owners of a custom home in West Chester wanted to immerse themselves in the four acres of countryside just outside their window. They turned to Period Architecture and Janiczek Homes with a wish list that included amping up the curb appeal and creating alfresco spaces behind the house where family and friends can gather.
A two-story porch provides a large deck shaded by a pergola above and a veranda below. “The owners love to entertain, and the upper level serves as an extension of their indoor living spaces,” says builder
Mark Janiczek. “The shaded pergola is nice for intimate gatherings, outdoor dining or simply quiet relaxation while taking in the view.” The veranda connects to a finished basement with a well-stocked
wine cellar. Designed for entertaining, the flow extends from the indoors out to a spacious flagstone patio and firepit. From the firepit, there's an expansive view of a wooded valley and a creek where herons congregate in search of fish. The refreshed outdoor haven now provides the perfect spot for relaxing and making memories.
