Georgia General Assembly passes the Forestry Act of 1921, providing for a State Board of Forestry.
1928
First fire tower constructed atop the Ware Hotel in Waycross, GA.
1933
First use of radios in preventing, detecting and suppressing fires.
1945
Fire detection by air patrol is tested and termed a success.
1948
Increased demand for tree seedlings leads to construction of a new nursery; 32.5 million seedlings now produced by three nurseries.
