“It took a while to build up the trust and confidence of my clients, so I had to learn patience. Just like growing a forest, if you plant a tree today, it might be 20 or 30 years before you can harvest it.”
Consulting Forester - The Tribble Group
Jack Tribble
Dublin, GA
Recognizing the importance of the trade to forest land- owners, Georgia
established the State Board of Registration for Foresters in 1951. Today, the state has more than 1,200 registered forest- ers, many of which provide services to landowners as consulting foresters.
Jack Tribble, native of Dublin, Georgia, worked for the Georgia Forestry Com- mission for three years prior to starting his own consulting business when he was 25 years old. He recalls the greatest challenge for his business at that time was earning the trust of the community.
“It took a while to build up the trust and confidence of my clients, so I had to learn patience,” Tribble said. “Just like growing a forest, if you plant a tree today, it might be 20 or 30 years before you can harvest it.”
As a consulting forester, Tribble, with a network of trusted contractors, assists landowners in executing a
wide variety of projects on their forestland, including but not limited to timber sales, harvesting, site prep, plant- ing and mapping and forest inventory. Like Fore, Tribble also points back to honesty as the key to keeping great client relationships.
“It’s all about, in the day- to-day, doing what you say you’re going to do, and never promising something that you can’t do,” Tribble said. “It’s the golden rule: treat someone the way you’d want to be treated.”
After 13 years of working with local landowners, Tribble says he still enjoys the job.
“We try to have fun with it,” Tribble said. “Sometimes you have easy days, and other days you have career defining days where you crawl through briars and pull 15 ticks off your body at the end of the day.”
