 Groups
Dutchess Tourism offers group tour operators and planners guidance with itineraries for a trip to the Hudson Valley. The featured sites below are just a sampling of the wealth of unique group experiences in Dutchess. Visit dutchesstourism. com/group-tours to get started.
Dutchess County creates group memories with farm-fresh meals, vintage gardens, stunning scenic beauty and an abundance of history.
Iconic historical figures President Franklin D. Roosevelt and Eleanor Roosevelt are a main attraction
for groups visiting Hyde Park. The Home of Franklin D. Roosevelt National Historic Site is the childhood home and final resting place of America’s 32nd President. Val-Kill is the cottage of Eleanor Roosevelt and the only National Historic Site dedicated to a First Lady. The interactive exhibits at
the FDR Presidential Library and Museum provide visitors even more insight into the Roosevelts and their countless contributions to the world.
Want to get to know the real high-society figures featured in “The Gilded Age,” the HBO television series depicting the conflict between
generational wealth and self-made fortunes in 19th-century America? Then visit the country estate of
Ruth Livingston Mills, a leading hostess in New York society and arbiter of the social elite, and her husband, financier Ogden Mills.
The Mills’ mansion, now known as Staatsburgh State Historic Site offers interesting and unique tours of the elaborate 79-room home. Their nearby neighbors, Frederick and Louise Vanderbilt, used McKim, Mead & White, a prominent New York City architectural firm, to design their 54-room country
home. Vanderbilt Mansion National Historic Site is considered a masterpiece of American architecture and exemplifies the new money of the Gilded Age.
