DUTCHESS COUNTY DESTINATION GUIDE
4 Wellness Trends
and Where to Experience Them in Dutchess
1. Self-Care
In the Village of Rhinebeck sits a Parisian-inspired haven where you can
truly focus on yourself.
An overnight stay at the Mirbeau Inn & Spa offers cozy rooms with French- style soaking tubs and fireplaces, delectable bistro meals from Willow and access to complimentary indulgences, including a Himalayan salt sauna, a eucalyptus-infused steam room and a fitness center. Wellness services include calming mineral baths, mother-to-be massages and a host of facial, body and biotech treatments. The Aqua Terrace is an outdoor oasis with a heated whirlpool. All the lush amenities are designed
to ensure a calming, relaxing stay.
2. Holistic Approach to Wellness
Omega Institute
(Rhinebeck) offers diverse and innovative educational experiences, ranging from conferences, workshops and professional training
to rest and rejuvenation retreats that inspire an integrated approach to personal and social change. Be sure to explore their on-campus workshops instructed by distinguished guest teachers such as
Wild author Cheryl Strayed, meditation teacher Sebene Selassie, and relationship experts Harville Hendrix and Helen LaKelly Hunt. From mid-May through the end of October, Omega’s all-inclusive stays include farm-to-table buffet meals; daily classes in meditation, yoga and tai chi; access to gardens and nature trails; and outdoor activities like kayaking and pickleball. Open to the public, the Omega Wellness Center offers massage, reflexology, energy balancing, reiki
and more.
3. Awe Walks & Forest Bathing
Awe walks are slow strolls made with intention.
Pay special attention
to the minor details of your environment while wandering through serene settings. Troutbeck (Amenia) offers a “Forest Bathing Meditation Walk,” a guided experience immersed in the natural splendor of 250 bucolic acres. Guests can also take advantage of wellness treatments, from massages to acupuncture, and scheduled yoga or Pilates classes at The Barns.
This newest addition to the property is made of timber reclaimed from the decommissioned Tappan Zee Bridge, which once spanned the Hudson River.
4. Personalized Experiences
Nestled among the shops, galleries and restaurants
of Beacon’s Main Street, The Dutchess Inn & Spa has expanded to provide
a completely new hotel experience. With uniquely curated, themed rooms with names such as the Dragon King, the Disco Queen, the Industrial Queen and the Bailee Suite, your in-hotel experience will be just as memorable as the outside. Spa services come with a personal approach, targeting facial rejuvenation, anti-aging treatments and muscle- tension release for stress relief. Have an instructor customize your workout
to focus on your specific needs and intentions during a private yoga class in the solarium or roof garden.
