 Jason Chipman
is a partner at the law firm Wilmer- Hale LLP. He has extensive private sector experience handling complex regulatory matters associated with cy- bersecurity, foreign investment in the United States and related export con- trols. Mr. Chipman currently serves as a non-resident fellow at the Nation-
al Security Institute and is widely sought after for his strategic thinking on data security issues. He has held senior posts at the U.S. Department of Justice, including Senior Counsel to the Deputy Attorney General and Counsel for National Security Law and Policy. During his time in government, Mr. Chip- man’s practice focused on national security policy, represent- ing the government in the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court, CFIUS, cybersecurity and government investigations.
Courtney E. Fisher
Courtney E. Fisher is a Washington, DC-based associate who practices with Gerard Stegmaier in the areas of privacy, data security and corporate governance. She graduated magna cum laude from the Antonin Scalia Law School at George Mason Uni- versity. She also holds a Master’s of
International Business and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Florida.
Alex Pearce
is an attorney at Wyrick Robbins Yates & Ponton LLP in Raleigh, North Carolina and dedicates his practice to privacy and data security law. He assists clients with compliance strate- gies, policy development and imple- mentation, data monetization and data use analyses, privacy and security
issues in transactions, privacy and security incident response, and regulatory and litigation matters that involve privacy and data security issues. In 2018, he was certified as a Specialist in Privacy and Information Security Law by the North Carolina State Bar Board of Legal Specialization as part of its inaugural class of specialists in the field. He graduated summa cum laude from Wake Forest University with a BA in Political Science and received his JD, with distinction, from Stanford Law School.
Gerard M. Stegmaier
is a senior research fellow and prac- titioner-in-residence in the Program on the Economics of Privacy at Sca- lia Law School’s Law and Econom- ics Center, where since 2001 he has taught one of the first information privacy courses. He is also an attorney in private practice who has counseled
Fortune 500 boards of directors, executive teams and their ad- visers in connection with many of the largest data crises in histo- ry. In particular, he assists with the corporate governance, SEC and government investigation and reputational implications of effective incident response. He has been regularly acknowl- edged as one of the top 30 incident response attorneys globally, working closely with recognized practitioners. He also appears before the Federal Trade Commission and assists technology and related businesses with all aspects of their privacy and information-governance concerns before the agency.
