and full-scale construction on the project has now begun, according to Mariner East News, a newsletter published by Sunoco to update residents on the project.
“Sunoco’s Mariner East projects are expected
to support 15,000 jobs a year over two years
of construction and up to 440 permanent jobs when finished,” reports Delaware County news outlet Pivot.Today. As a further investment into Delaware County’s economic future, Sunoco recently donated $100,000 to Delaware County Community College to help the school provide more scholarships to students in the field of process-control technology.
During its construction, Mariner East 2
will use approximately 75,000 tons of American-manufactured steel, which supports additional jobs in the region. According to Sunoco, pipeline construction should be finished in 2018.
Hiring Spree
Delaware County-based convenience store giant Wawa announced this spring that it planned to hire 5,000 new employees within the next three months.
The hires, who were needed to fill positions in both customer service and management, were set to be made throughout Wawa’s six- state operating area, according to a company press release.
“As a company, part of fulfilling lives means adding jobs for
new associates, while also providing advancement opportunities for the
more than 30,000 Wawa
associates who are part
of our team,” said Dave
Filano, manager of talent acquisition at Wawa. “As
we continue to expand and
grow, we’re excited to fill these 5,000-plus positions with people who will quickly become part of the Wawa Way.”
Fun Workplace
Newtown Square-based SAP America has been named to Fortune’s 2017 100 Best Companies To Work For list.
SAP ranked 59th on the list, which is based on extensive employee surveys. In the surveys,
employees provide anonymous responses regarding the quality of their companies’ leadership, support for their personal and professional lives and their relationships with colleagues.
Of those surveyed at SAP, 98 percent reported feeling “great pride”
about working at SAP, and 96 percent said the company
offered “great challenges,” “great rewards,” “great atmosphere” and “great communications,” according to SAP’s
announcement of the ranking.
“This award is a testament to
the more than 20,000 U.S. employees
whose tireless work ethic and shared values have made this a truly special place to come
to work each day,” said Jennifer Morgan, president of SAP North America. “We have built a culture of equality, purpose and respect for others, where innovative thinking and risk-taking are celebrated and where all are united in helping our customers around the globe to succeed.”
