BUILDING TOMORROW’S WORKFORCE
Chester County’s more than a dozen public school districts are an excellent place to educate young minds. According to Niche.com, eight districts have earned an A or A+ overall grade, which considers academics, teacher quality, diversity, and sports programming.
Students in Chester County rate 10% above the Pennsylvania average in reading, and 12% in math, according to Public School Review. In addition, more than 50 private and parochial schools serve as further educational options for diverse student needs.
Chester County also shines when it comes to post-secondary education options. Keep reading for a look at exciting programs
underway at local universities and colleges to ensure the next generation will graduate with the skills employers need.
DREXEL UNIVERSITY
While Drexel University’s main campus is in Philadelphia, the university’s LeBow College of Business maintains a campus in Malvern. Both locations offer tailored programming to local companies through the college’s Office of Corporate and Executive Education.
“We will sit down with a corporate partner or an interested company to design a program based on their needs,” said Mark Dierkes, LeBow’s Director of Recruitment for the Executive MBA and DBA programs. In
designing the custom program, company executives will have an opportunity to work with LeBow’s research faculty. “These are faculty who are publishing in journals,” Dierkes noted, “so they’re really at the cutting edge of the latest best practices.”
Once the programs are designed, LeBow can deliver them in Philadelphia, at its Malvern location or at the company’s
own offices. In Malvern, state-of-the-art technology allows employees from all over the world to participate in classes virtually.
LeBow already works with quite a few Chester County companies, including a major employer in the financial sector. “We do a customized MBA for their employees,” Dierkes said. The MBA is transferable, and
