                INTRODUCTION
 Resilient, Diverse & Desirable
The Business Council of Westchester, the county’s business advocacy and membership organization, is proud to present this annual guide. With the 2023 edition, we are introducing you to all that makes living in Westchester, Orange, Rockland, Putnam, and Dutchess Counties so desirable. As we have seen continually during these
turbulent times, this region — which offers safe and vibrant neighborhoods, beautiful outdoor spaces,
a resilient economy and housing market, and a wonderful kaleidoscope of diverse residents — is more in demand than ever before. New Yorkers of all kinds are flocking to Westchester and the Hudson Valley to enjoy its bounties, and we are excited to welcome all of them to our area.
We are happy to have the support of the Hudson Gateway Association of REALTORS®, allowing us
to develop a broader regional focus within this publication. Together, we invite you to step through the gateway to the breathtaking Hudson Valley area. I know firsthand about Westchester’s scenic beauty, its broad range of residential, educational, and employment opportunities, and its many cultural, historical, and recreational options, all of which make Westchester one of the premier places to live and work in the United States. Our diverse business presence has enriched the social and cultural fabric of Westchester’s communities while contributing to its economic strength. As you will see in this guide, there are also many great advantages to living in the neighboring counties of Orange, Rockland, Putnam, and Dutchess Counties.
The Business Council of Westchester’s more than 1,000 business and professional members extend a very warm welcome to the region.
Sincerely,
Dr. Marsha Gordon
President/CEO
Remaining Cautiously Optimistic
This past year has been quite a roller coaster for real estate. Today, while rates are relatively low as compared to many years ago, we enter a new phase of the market where rates have doubled since 2021 — while home prices have
not yet fully stabilized. As a result, home sales nationwide have slipped, though we try to remain cautiously optimistic about 2023.
Our area still maintains its status as a popular destination for those seeking a home, whether it be a co-op, condo, single-family, or multi-family residence.
Our multiple listing service, OneKey® MLS (OneKeyMLS. com) is now the most robust in the New York Metro area, providing up-to-the-minute, accurate data and the newest technological advances in the industry. OneKey® also offers a wealth of information on hundreds of suburban communities in in our region and more than 44,000 listings from Port Jervis to Port Washington.
There are property search tools in 21 languages, and consumers can save searches and listings, as well as share their favorites with family and friends. In addition, the website offers map-based searches, beautiful images, and detailed remarks about each property.
With more than 14,000 REALTORS®, HGAR and OneKey® MLS connect home buyers and sellers with dedicated real estate professionals who are recognized by both the New York State Association of REALTORS® and the National Association of REALTORS®.
I have been fortunate enough to be part of HGAR and its predecessor associations for almost 40 years and will be embarking on a new role shortly as CEO of OneKey® MLS. I’m excited to be part of shaping the future of what we believe will be one of the largest and most preeminent Multiple Listing Services in the country.
I leave HGAR confident that this association will proudly continue its tradition of advocating and supporting anyone in their quest to fulfill the American dream of home ownership.
Sincerely,
Richard K. Haggerty
CEO, Hudson Gateway Association of REALTORS® President, OneKey® MLS
