were created here, including his posthumous portrait of John F. Kennedy. Andrew Wyeth painted in the studio from 1940 until 2008, and thousands of works are associated with the building and surrounding      collection, costumes and props
are some of the most fascinating objects on the tour. Jamie Wyeth himself has said that “the world of Andrew Wyeth is best understood by a visit to his studio.”
Both tour sites are within minutes
of the Brandywine Museum of
Art and a shuttle bus provides transportation from the museum to each site. Each tour is approximately one hour in length and requires
a separate ticket. Tours run April through November.
Legacy of the du Ponts
Several former homes of the famed du Pont family grace the beautiful Brandywine countryside and contain treasure troves of art both inside and out. Hagley Museum and Library, the du Pont family’s ancestral home,

folk art, as well as treasured family pieces brought with the family from France in 1799.
The Nemours Estate, once the home of Alfred I. du Pont, is surrounded by formal gardens and      works of art, beautiful tapestries and other treasures. The grounds around the mansion extend for one third of a mile along the main vista from the house and are among the     gardens in the United States. A        statue of Diana the Huntress cast by Jean-Antoine Houdon in 1780.
Finally, Henry Francis du Pont
was born at Winterthur and is responsible for creating Winterthur Museum, Garden & Library and
the unparalleled collection of American decorative arts housed there. The estate features over 90,000 objects made or used in America between approximately 1640 and 1860. Items are displayed      kept much as it was when the du Pont family lived there. The unique displays throughout the Winterthur     including furniture, ceramics and glass, metals, textiles, and paintings and prints.
