The museum showcases the work of three generations of the Wyeth family: N.C., Andrew and Jamie. The Wyeths’ works are not only represented within the museum’s galleries, but also on three separate off-site tours.
The N.C. Wyeth House & Studio Tour offers a glimpse at the life
and work of the family patriarch, Newell Convers Wyeth. In 1911,
with proceeds from his illustrations for Treasure Island, N.C. Wyeth purchased 18 acres in Chadds Ford and built his home and studio overlooking the valley. It is here that he raised a family of extraordinary creativity and began the legacy of the Wyeth family in the Brandywine Valley. Tour the family homestead and separate artist’s studio located behind the home. Both remain much the same as when the family and artist lived and worked there. The property is a designated National Historic Landmark.
The second insightful tour is of the Andrew Wyeth Studio. The original structure, a schoolhouse, was built in 1875, and was Wyeth’s home for over two decades. He and wife Betsy raised their two boys here and son Jamie’s first studio was also in the family home. Many of Jamie Wyeth’s early works
were created here, including his posthumous portrait of John F. Kennedy. Andrew Wyeth painted in

STUDIO ART TOUR
May 16 & 17, 2020
NOTHING IS BETTER FOR THOSE WHO LOVE ART, AND ESPECIALLY THOSE WHO COLLECT GREAT ART, THAN A WEEKEND IN MAY TO MEET ARTISTS IN THEIR STUDIOS AND A CHANCE TO OWN UNIQUE MASTERWORKS. This is the experience available at the Chester County Studio Art Tour, May 16 & 17, 2020.
“I am amazed at the talent that keeps popping up in Chester County! This year, we have some outstanding new talented artists joining us, along with our stable of artists who create something new every year for the tour. There is so much talent in Chester County that it’s worthy of hefty applause,” said Jeff Schaller, artist
and show coordinator. “The public will have a unique opportunity to see the creative process as many studios on the tour will feature works- in-progress and artist demonstrations. The tour has something for everyone, from the first- time art buyer to the seasoned collector, in a wide range of mediums and prices.”
Over 100 artists will exhibit different
mediums, such as painting, sculpture, jewelry, photography, clay, glass, paper and fiber in studios and creative workspaces. All the artists will be on hand to share their studios, discuss their work, and meet buyers and browsers alike.
The 2020 Chester County Studio Tour is free and open
to the public on Saturday, May 16, from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. and Sunday, May 17, from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Please visit ChesterCountyStudioTour.com for a map, artist and studio listings, and catalogue. Handicapped accessible studios are marked on the studio pages in
