for seniors, including my grand- mother, to feel safe, engaged, loved and taken care of despite whatever health challenges they may encounter. I had never seen or experienced anything that was more powerful than serving others in this way.”
Before having the opportunity to transition her career to senior living in 2017, Sara spent the early part of her career in education and commu- nity relations for organizations like the Convent of the Sacred Heart, recruitment company Monster and The College of Westchester while simultaneously pursuing her passion for writing books.
Later, after working in various leadership roles for several highly regarded New York rehabilitation and assisted living communities, she was promoted to regional director of operations, overseeing 11 assisted living and memory care communities in six states. However, she soon found herself missing
the very reason she got into senior living — those powerful personal interactions and relationships with seniors and their families that held so much meaning for her.
In 2024, it all came full circle when Sara accepted the role to lead the charge as executive director of Benchmark at Mount Pleasant.
“When I heard Benchmark was build- ing a new community in Westchester County, I knew it was meant to be,” she said. “I am so passionate about serving others and love this area so much that it was the perfect match. Benchmark is truly committed to seniors and I’m grateful to have the opportunity to show Westchester County what makes us different.”
To date, Sara has authored 20 books and now she’s looking forward to helping Benchmark at Mount Pleasant residents write their next best chapter!

Years later, Sara was inspired again by her experience as a granddaughter when her grandmother lived at Benchmark at Mount Pleasant’s sis- ter community Edgehill in Stamford. She is thrilled to now be leading the Westchester County community.
“What I experienced at Edgehill were Benchmark associates who truly care about their residents, their well-being, their goals, and are dedicated to pro- viding the highest levels of service,” said Humphreys. “I saw what it meant
