of such simple quotes with such significant meanings. They’re the result of his own background as a runner, combined with his deeply held Catholic faith. Together, they give him what he calls “glimpses of Heaven on earth” or, in other words, signs of God’s spiritual greatness in our physical world.
Sometimes, those signs would be obvious from
every angle, like when he got to see one of the greatest racehorses of all time, Secretariat. According to him, it was impossible to witness that horse, even after retirement, without recognizing the earthly purpose he radiated. At one point, the Triple Crown champion took off running, putting pure beauty into motion. His racing days were long over by then. Yet, in the
