Baltimore’s Craft Beer and Cocktail Scene
Baltimore’s craft beer scene is thriving with unique offerings at breweries big and small, tap houses and sports bars. If spirits are more your speed, try our city’s sophisticated cocktails bars or the new Sagamore Spirit distillery.
Union Craft Brewing has quickly grown into one of Baltimore’s top beer darlings. You can
see live shows, festivals
and themed events at the brewery, which is moving to a larger space in the Medfield neighborhood this year.
WIT& WISDOM
a visit to The Elk Room in Harbor East, where you can pair your drink with fondue (cheese or chocolate — or both!).
Head to Sagamore Spirit Distillery in Port Covington for hour-long tours that introduce you to the storied history of rye whiskey in Maryland, followed by a whiskey tasting. If you want to see how Sagamore Spirit plays in a cocktail, head to nearby Rye Street Tavern.
The pirate-themed beers by
Heavy Seas have become a
staple on taps around the city
(and well beyond). The brewery
gives free tours on Saturdays
and Sundays with hefty
samples and a glass available for only $5. (A real steal, as is the pirate way.)
The Brewer’s Art is an upscale brewpub set in a grand Mount Vernon townhouse where you can try any of the six house-made Belgian-style beers on tap.
HEAVY SEAS
Tucked away on the third floor of a building just off Hampden’s famous Avenue, the Bluebird Cocktail Room serves sophisticated yet affordable drinks amid an atmosphere right out of Ernest Hemingway’s Paris.
