   COLUMBUS DAY CEREMONY DETAILED
The Columbus Monument Committee announces that the annual Christopher Columbus Ceremony will be held on Thursday, Oct. 12 at 11 a.m. at the Monument, Harding Boulevard at Elmwood Park. The event will begin with the Parade of the Flags of the Regions of Italy by the Sons and and Daughters of Italy, Valley Forge LAM Chapter with
music provided by the Norristown Verdi Band. The ceremony will begin at the conclusion of the Parade of Flags. There will be a keynote address. This ceremony has been held every year at the site since the dedication of the Christopher Columbus Monument celebrating the 500th anniversary of the Columbus discovery on Oct. 12, 1992.

Twin sisters Evelina and Alessandra, who were featured in the July issue of Italian- American Herald, proudly brought a copy of the paper to their relatives in Reggio Calabria on their recent trip.

The UNICO Foundation, which grants up to $25,000 each year to worthy applicants of the Ralph Torraco Food and Shelter Fund, has again awarded $1,500 to Lighthouse for Broken Wings of Lewes. This is the fourth consecutive year that the Foundation has granted between $1,000 and $2,000 to this
organization, directed by nurse Toni Short and a team of volunteers.
Members of the Rehoboth Area Chapter also volunteer throughout the year to prepare meals for the homeless families living at this facilityandothers. Inaddition,theyprovide support for clothing drives and school and holiday supplies whenever needed, directed by Outreach Chairperson Joan Boraski and
