What an honor to be in the personal studio of Elia Stelluto watching him sign his books. He witnessed first hand the vision of a Saint here on earth and recorded it. He is truly
a photographic historian.
Having unique access, and with Padre Pio’s full permission, he recorded a photographic history of the life of this saint both gloved and ungloved revealing his stigmata.
Elia standing among his archived photos of Padre Pio. By profession he photographed many life events of the villagers all while walking alongside Padre Pio throughout his life.
Elia caught the ‘ire’ of Padre Pio when he first used ‘a flash’ during a blessing. As the priest turned around, ungloved, revealing his ‘stigmata’ for the blessing, Padre Pio was meet with a “POP of Explosion”.

Harry Calandra(L), Co-Founder of Padre Pio in Barto, PA with Elia Stelluto, me and Elia’s sister Maria on their visit to the USA in 2015 outside D’Angelo’s Restaurant near Rittenhouse Square.
It’s 9 years later and I am blessed to visit Elia in his home studio in San Giovanni Rotondo, Italy. A war torn town he watched go from streets of rock and stone to welcoming almost 7 million visitors a year.
