The Cape Henlopen High School in
Lewes, Del., continues to offer and sponsor
classes in Italian language and culture.
The program, begun 17 years ago by
Cristina Christy, is now being continued by
Kristin Loffreda-Mancinelli. This four year
program stresses conversation, the building
of language skills and the promotion and
preservation of Italian culture and customs.
At a recent meeting of UNICO Rehoboth
Area, both Italian professors were introduced
and expressed their gratitude for the chapter’s
continued support of the program. Christy
spoke of past accomplishments and plans for
her retirement. Loffreda-Mancinelli presented
goals for the future of the Italian program at
Cape Henlopen based on her many years of
teaching experience in the Philadelphia area.
She and her family are happy to have relocated
to the Rehoboth area, while still retaining
family and ties to the Delaware Valley. IAH
