Siena Theaters’ 2024 season unveiled UNICO hosts bocce tournament
Italian-American Herald
Siena Theaters has announced the program for the upcoming season. The organization consists of the Teatro dei Rinnovati, recently recognized as a national monument, and the Teatro dei Rozzi, both managed by the Municipality of Siena.
The new artistic director, Vincenzo Bocciarelli, has also conceived the new symbolic image of the season: a sailing ship that emerges from the ocean depths and
hit by rays of sun beyond the sea surface, projects beyond the curtain, to find its navigation again in the landing and therefore in contact with the theater audience.
The 2024/2025 season starts with classical and contemporary prose with a segue to musicals, ballet, opera, comedy, and children's shows, in a complete range of intense and lighter offerings.
The Teatro dei Rinnovati season begins on Oct. 25 with a national preview of “Aladdin, a Musical,” by Stefano D'Orazio, a story inspired by one of the most famous stories of One Thousand and One Nights, with Italian actor Max Laudadio as the protagonist. Then the great Galuco Mauri
will arrive with his “De Profundis” by Oscar Wilde. The month of November opens with Cristiana Capotondi in a monologue written and directed by Marco Bonini, “Victory is the Nurse of the Vanquished,” an intimate story marked by a touching family story from a mother to a daughter.
The Teatro dei Rozzi season opens with an Italian novelty: a hilarious show written by Pier Francesco Pingitore I Due Cialtroni, with Maurizio Martufello and Marco Simeoli. This is followed by “Inimitabili,” a tribute
to Gabriele D'Annunzio with Edoardo
Sylos Labini on stage on Nov. 12 in a story that recalls the celebrated figure of the
20th century poet, with a dramaturgy by Angelo Crespi. Starting on Dec. 10, Debora Caprioglio will be engaged in an intense
solo titled “Non fui gentile, fui Gentileschi,” on the life of the famous painter “narrated by herself” and directed by Roberto D'Alessandro. IAH
