WESTCHESTER’S FAMILY DELI
JERRY’S POST ROAD MARKET
Left to right: Matthew Slater, Jeremiah McGuire Jr., Martha McGuire, Jesse Slater, Piper Horn, and Mary Slater.
Two Irish immigrants, Jerry and Marie McGuire, established Jerry’s Post Road Market in 1937 with a passion for heritage, family, and community. The building consisted of a small deli and grocery store with living quarters above. Jerry and Marie ran the store while raising their five children all under one roof. After serving in the Vietnam War, Jerry, Jr, the youngest of the five children, and his wife Martha inherited the family business. They grew the deli, catering, and the Irish Imports while raising their seven children. Soon after Jerry and Martha built a new market
in 2005 to accommodate the growing business, their daughter, Mary (McGuire) and her husband Matthew Slater inherited the deli and continue to run it today, incorporating all the cherished Irish cooking techniques, famous secret recipes, and taking care of their customers like family, every day. Jerry and Marie McGuire left a lasting legacy they may have never imagined that will remain for many generations to come.
