‘THE GREATEST OF LEADERS
ARE SERVANTS’
DAN HAHN OPENS UP ON WHAT HE’S LEARNED IN TWO YEARS AS DCA PRESIDENT
For nearly two years I have had the honor and privilege to serve as DCA’s president During that period, our association has accomplished many great things I have been truly amazed at the dedication
and commitment of our staff, Board of Directors and committee chairs It has never been clearer to me that the greatest of leaders are servants Although the time has passed too quickly, it is with much gratitude and pride that I finish my term
DCA has been focused on a long-term strategy to impact the critical labor shortage in our industry I am delighted to say that
in the last two years our association has partnered with Gov John Carney to create
a Construction Career Expo This annual event has become the ignition our state needed to shatter misconceptions about the career options available in this industry Spearheaded by our own Alisha Bryson, it has not only educated our youth, it reached their parents Countless eyes were opened to the abundance of opportunities
Executive Vice President Bryon Short recently celebrated his one-year anniversary as the leader of our association Bryon has breathed new life into us His tireless work ethic and understanding of our industry has made him a great fit Bryon’s knowledge and friendships in Dover have been a boon to our association It has been a pleasure working with him and getting to know him on a personal level I can assure you, Bryon Short will take us
to the next level
On Oct 16, 2019, DCA celebrated 50 years as the voice of construction in Delaware During the past 50 years, we have been an association rooted in family We certainly
are in a unique line of business Many of us grew up in DCA We were members of the Young Executives Committee We adopted highways and directed traffic at our annual crab feast Our parents got us involved We are now serving the association in leadership roles I take great pride in being a second-generation president The importance of our mission was not lost on that kid many years ago Our future is bright Thank you for allowing me to be part of its history
Ut Prosim (that I may serve),
Daniel J. Hahn Sr.
