WELCOME
Dear Members and Friends of DCA:
“Without continual growth and progress, such words as important, achievement and success have no meaning”.
– Benjamin Franklin
As we, The Delaware Contractors Association, approach
our 50th Anniversary, I reflect on the above quote from
Benjamin Franklin. As a second generation President, I am
following in the footsteps of some of our local industry’s
greatest leaders. This organization was founded in 1969 and
the individuals who formed this chapter were motivated
and persistent in pursuing a goal of success for Delaware
contractors. Those great men and women did the heavy
lifting. They laid down the foundation for DCA as we know it
today. In 2018, we must build on that foundation. We must continue to grow and progress so that we, as Delaware contractors can improve, achieve and be successful.
The labor shortage has become one of the biggest issues facing our industry today. We now recognize that this is not a short term crisis. DCA is focused on a long-term strategy to impact this critical area. To elevate this important issue, we have created a Workforce Development Committee to lead a task force in developing a long term plan that promotes construction as
a career.
The greatest value proposition we can provide our members is Advocacy. It is a direct benefit to our contractor members as well as our associates. Successfully garnering both regulatory and political influence helps to remove barriers and promotes moving our industry forward.
Several opportunities will be available throughout the year to meet for certification/ education as well as networking with individuals within our industry. Please take advantage of all our association has to offer. Get to know your membership. Personally speaking, over the many years I have been involved with DCA, I have not only gained working relationships, but also long lasting friendships. Some of those friendships date back to the mid-90’s as Young Executives in education courses!
For our current members and prospective members, I want to assure you that the intention of our board is to grow the Delaware Chapter without limits. We will stay focused on remaining a benefit to our members and also stay current with Industry standards and requirements. We look forward to a productive, successful year. I invite each of you to participate and get involved. Get the most out of your membership. The giving of your time and talents will not only better the industry, it will be personally rewarding.
I am truly humbled and honored to serve as your 2018 President and look forward to working with all of you.
Ut Prosim (that I may serve), Daniel J. Hahn, Sr.
