 POINT TO POINT CONTINUED –
Point continued – steeplechase horse racing, a carriage parade and other games and activities (plus good food and drinks). The day-long event held
at this 1,000-acre former estate of the famed du Pont family offers a wonderful opportunity for family fun or a unique outing with colleagues or friends.
ST. ANTHONY’S ITALIAN FESTIVAL (JUNE)
For anyone who enjoys flavorful food, St. Anthony’s Italian Festival
in downtown Wilmington is an excellent place to spend a few hours in mid-June. It’s the region’s largest Italian-American celebration, and one of the largest in the nation, according to event organizers. Not only does it features authentic delectable dishes, some traditional attire and all things Italian-American, but it also serves as the primary fundraiser for the local St. Anthony of Padua Grade School. It’s always good to know that those delicious dishes are also going down for a good cause.

DELAWARE STATE FAIR (JULY)
For 10 days every summer, the fair- grounds at the Harrington Raceway
& Casino fill with local exhibitors, all
of the fried food, local livestock and nightly concerts for one of the state’s longest-running celebrations during the Delaware State Fair. Whether you’re looking for some yummy treats and an outdoor beer garden, a glance at the largest squash grown this year or some night-time entertainment from music or carnival rides, the Fair has been a local favorite for more than 100 years.
NANTICOKE POWWOW (SEPTEMBER)
Another traditional annual event happens a bit farther downstate, and at a new location in recent years:
The Nanticoke Indian Powwow now held at Hudson Fields along Route 1 near Milton. Hosted by the Nanticoke Indian Association, the event aims to “celebrate, educate, share, entertain and excite the public about the continent’s First Peoples.” From drumming and dance displays to a car show and local vendors, the Powwow is a perfect way to spend a day or weekend learning and celebrating this important part of the area’s cultural heritage.
SEA WITCH (OCTOBER)
Join tens of thousands of other Halloween and beach lovers in late October for one of the state’s biggest holiday celebrations: The annual Sea Witch Festival held in Rehoboth Beach. For more than 30 years, the multi-day event has highlighted some of the
best costumes and celebrations of the seasons, with beach games, local artisans and a 5K race for those more competitive spirits.
