Delaware holds the notable position of being the
fi rst state among the thirteen colonies to both ratify the
Constitution and sign the Declaration of Independence.
1792
It’s not the only fi rst for the Small Wonder. Delaware fi rst
became known as the business capital of the world thanks
1899to its Court of Chancery, which was founded in 1792, and it
progressed further in 1899 with the passage of the General
1963
Corporation Act. This law eased the formation process,
implemented low corporate taxes, and defi ned corporation's
powers ambiguously. Delaware is considered a corporate
haven largely due to tax-free sales and intangible assets, fl at
fees, and pass-through taxes regulated by State’s corporation
law and the Court of Chancery. But over the years, it has also
drawn chemical manufacturers from DuPont, bankers to tap
into reasonable credit card fees, and chicken farmers.
