or every chain restaurant, there’s a quaint eatery that’ll cook your crêpe just the way you like it. For every food conglomerate, there’s a family-run food-delivery company that knows each customer by name. And for every big-name bank uninterested in Main Street, there’s one willing to lend a hand—and some capital—to help small businesses thrive.
We wanted to recognize these small businesses—and those who support them—for helping make a ZIP code a community. So we set out and asked for nominations for outstanding businesses (with 50 or fewer employees) that have been in Westchester for at least two years. After scouring through hundreds of nomina- tions, it became clear we had a wealth of fabulous locally owned small businesses.
What we were looking for, though, were businesses that really stood out—those with consistency in their success, that have made an impact in their community, and that maintain a loyal (and raving) cus- tomer/client base.
It was a tough task, but we managed to whittle the list down to 11. So, here, we present you with the winners of our Excellence in Small Business Awards—seven for General Excellence, one Outstanding Minority-Owned Business, one Outstanding Philanthropic Business, one Outstanding Advocate for Small Business, and one Big Business Partner.
We hope you’ll join us in honoring their achievements at 914INC.’s first annual Excellence in Small Business Awards on September 19, from 6 pm to 8 pm at the Crowne Plaza White Plains.
