The Bristal at White Plains
Launches Corporate Outreach Program to Address Eldercare Issues for Employers
The Bristal at White Plains, a new assisted living community that offers memory
care support as well as enhanced levels of care, has launched a corporate outreach initiative for Westchester businesses to help their employees successfully manage the challenges of caring for an aging loved one. “We’re thrilled to provide this opportunity to local businesses to help lessen the impact
of the challenges that employees face when they are put in the position of caregiver. Being a caregiver can be a daunting task, especially when you are simultaneously concerned about your job and managing your own family. Employers can now truly lessen the impact
of these challenges and help their employees remain productive and present,” said Susan Yubas, Director of Business Development, The Bristal at White Plains.
The aging of Westchester’s population can place financial and emotional strain on both local businesses and their employees. Whereas now, the median age of a working caregiver is 56, it is not unusual to find even younger people in the workforce caring for an older parent. According to national statistics, 60% of caregivers are employed full or part time and will deal with absenteeism, lateness, missed work days and possible job loss due to care giving issues. Additionally, studies show that related responsibilities cost U.S.
