FAMILY TIME
Explore places where children can learn and grow — and you’ll feel like a kid again.

Seven More Great Spots For Kids
AREA EXPERT:
TRACI MANZA MURPHY —
Co-founder of BrandywineBuzz.com
AREA OF EXPERTISE: Kids + families Q. What’s your go-to place when
houseguests arrive with children?
A. After we hide the clutter and stock the fridge, we take visiting families to the Delaware Children’s Museum. When we bring big kids, they are challenged
by the building opportunities in the Structures exhibit and they like exploring the Touch Tank and the other science-y stuff. Moms love it because the kids come out exhausted — and because lunch or dinner at the adjacent Iron Hill Brewery offers a cold beer and a good chicken finger option.
ENCHANTED WOODS AT
WINTERTHUR MUSEUM, GARDEN & LIBRARY
Inside this magical fairy village hidden within Winterthur’s gardens, discover a troll bridge, a giant bird’s nest, a very climbable tree house and more, spread over three acres under an oak-tree canopy. It’s the perfect place to run and play during a day at Winterthur.
PARENT TIP: Pack a change of clothes if your tykes are the types to jump into the water play areas.
TUOJIANGOSAURUS AND YANGCHUANOSAURUS AT DELAWARE MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY
The fossilized remains of two fearsome dinosaurs (Asian cousins of Stegosaurus and Allosaurus) guard the main room of the museum. Leave time to visit outdoor exhibits along the mile-long nature trail out back, or take the shorter, stroller-friendly path.
PARENT TIP: There’s no cafeteria on site, but there is a place to eat if you BYOLunch.
