 MUDROOM

SCARSDALE This mudroom is fun and functional for
a young family always on the go. The dark hexagonal tiles conceal the daily foot traffic, while the denim- colored wallpaper adds a bit of brightness to the frequently used space. Custom built-ins house jackets, boots, sports equipment, and more.

BRONXVILLE As part of a gut renovation of the kitchen in this 1928 Tudor, a new mudroom was created in an existing space. The designer added abundant storage, including a cabinet with drawers for odds and ends and shelves for baskets. The cabinet color was matched to the large, hexagonal floor tile, which is a warm gray. Hexagons are also found in the flush- mount brass light fixtures and the honeycomb-patterned hardware.

MAJESTIC KITCHENS & BATH
RYE The old mudroom was simply a vestibule off of the garage, kitchen,
and laundry room. The homeowner wanted organized storage for the family’s seasonal outerwear as well
as the children’s sporting equipment. Two closets flanking the windows
were added to fulfill that need while convenient everyday storage was added with a bench seat. There is also a new area with drawers for art supplies and charging stations for electronic devices. Photo: Peter Krupenye
