Name Game
Some Westchester towns could use a name change to better display their true colors. Every now and then, a town elects to switch its name to something more marketable, less embarrassing—or something that better reflects the burg’s character. In December 1996, residents of the former North Tarrytown famously voted to change the village’s name to the more evocative Sleepy Hollow. And Pleasantville certainly says more about that charming mid-county village than its former name, Clark’s Corners. With that in mind, we humbly suggest new names for a handful of Westchester’s hamlets and towns.
