  Mile-High Pie Heaven
Want something made with love? Try Grandma Momma’s Legacy Licious Sweet Potato Pie from G&K Sweet Foods (gksweetfoods.com). Prepared by friends Gay Wheeler-Smith and Kecia Palmer Cousins, CEO and COO and chief bakers (and bottle washers), the two Westchester moms (Wheeler-Smith is from New Rochelle, Palmer Cousins from Peekskill) took the crinkled, decades-old recipe of Wheeler-Smith’s great-grandmoth-
er to create a creamy, smooth pie, baked with fresh puréed potatoes and organic eggs in a homemade but- ter-based crust. Each pie is flash frozen to lock in flavor, but when heated it has the heavenly aroma of old fashioned home cooking that warms your soul. Whatever you do, don’t fill up on din- ner: the velvety, thick consistency will have you reaching for a second slice. Pies are avail- able in three sizes at Lola’s Tea House (130 Fifth Ave, Pelham, 914-738-2100; lolastea house.com), Chocolations (607 E Boston Post Rd, Mamaroneck 914-777-3600; chocolations. com), and at gksweetfoods.com ($5 for
6-inch; $15 for 9-inch).

Alvin & Friends (49 Lawton St, New Rochelle 914-654-6549; alvinand friendsrestaurant.com), the contem- porary Southern/Caribbean restaurant in downtown New Rochelle, is adding more comfort-fare items (like a burger and a pasta dish) to the menu, a Sunday brunch, and plans to start free delivery to nearby apart- ments. Also in the works is live jazz on Friday and Saturday nights, plus a new late- night menu.
Be on the lookout for monthly, five-course wine dinners plus sea-
