Throughout the country, and here in New York, tourists and residents alike have been dazzled by the creations of commercial Christmas decorators American Christmas. The company’s iconic holiday décor designs have been featured at Rockefeller Center, Radio City Music Hall and Saks Fifth Avenue.
Here, Chief Executive Officer Dan Casterella talks about how the company’s success is supported by its pivotal location in Southern Westchester.
What’s American Christmas?
We design, manufacture, install, remove, and store Christmas decorations for buildings, lobbies, banks, stores and hotels. We create tremendously complex installations that require substantial
planning. We’re based in Mount Vernon but have operations throughout the country. We drive holiday projects from concept to installation. We offer turn-key services and exceptional communication, which gives our clients confidence in our ability to help them succeed. Most don’t even consider that a business like ours exists. But in our world, we’re the biggest.
What’s the secret of your success?
Holiday programs are more than just a beautiful wreath or tree. Our ability to understand logistics and plan for all contingencies is what makes us not just good, but great. Our obsession with detail helps ensure that our clients’ holidays are successful. We’ve been leaders in the holiday decorating industry since 1968, and our vast knowledge of materials and keen
understanding of what is necessary for successful execution is the cornerstone of the process. However, our experience is continuously inspired by innovation and the reinvention of tradition.
Who are your clients?
We are proud to have cultivated an impressive list of clients who consistently turn to us as their holiday partner. Virtually wherever you look in midtown Manhattan, you can see our work: the Rockefeller Center Channel Gardens, The Radio City Christmas Spectacular, the interior and exterior of Saks 5th Avenue, The New York Stock Exchange, Cartier. We also work with mall management companies around the country, as well as zoos and amusement parks. We have staff around the country who work with clients locally, including sales people, designers and project managers.
