approximately eight acres of additional land around the originally announced studio site. The expansion of additional stages and office space are already under construction and are scheduled to be completed in phases starting in September 2022 with total completion slated for December 2023.
“The opening of Lionsgate Studios Yonkers, a premier film production studio located along the banks of the Hudson River, has become the fruit of our labor over the last decade,” says Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano. “Our efforts in revitalizing the waterfront, coupled with our investment in the Yonkers Film office making our city film-friendly, has positioned Yonkers as Hollywood on the Hudson. There is no doubt Yonkers is paving the way for the film industry’s emerging foothold in Westchester.”
A KEY ECONOMIC DRIVER FOR WESTCHESTER
“The film industry generated $45.7M in economic impact in Westchester in 2019, according to our most recent survey,” says Westchester County Tourism and Film Director Natasha Caputo. “That’s up from $30M in 2016. Production days increased by 50% and revenues from film topped $2.3M, a 92% increase.
“2021 represented a great year for film and TV production in the County,” continues Caputo. “Now, with the official opening of Lionsgate, and its newly announced expansion, the future of film production in Westchester has never been brighter.”
