Milestone Birthday for
Rukert Terminals
A
bout 300 people turned out for
a birthday bash in September
celebrating Rukert Terminals
Corp.’s 90th year of operation. The
family-owned and privately operated
company traces its roots to a 1921
storage company that quickly evolved
into a maritime company and today
boasts five berths, 23 warehouses
and 60 acres of
outside storage
space. Customers,
vendors, employees
and friends mingled
at the Frederick
Douglass-Isaac Myers
Maritime Park in
Fells Point. “It was a
great event to thank
everyone that makes
Rukert successful,” said company Vice
President Andrew G. “Andy” Nixon. “We
plan to stay strong in the Port of
Baltimore over the next 90 years!”

Local Logistics
Company Assists with
Baltimore Grand Prix
C
hoptank Transport, a locally based
Eastern Shore logistics company,
handled all of the logistics for the
setup and tear down of safety barrier
walls used during September’s inaugural
Baltimore Grand Prix. The job included
the transportation of 2,200 12-foot-long
jersey barriers, each weighing 9,300
pounds. In addition, Choptank Transport
delivered all of the fencing and tire
barriers that lined the race course.
Choptank Transport dismantled the
barriers in just two weeks using a pro-
fessionally trained staff of experienced
logistics coordinators and top-rated carriers.
Racing along a two-mile temporary
street course, Indy cars reached speeds
of 180 mph, traveling through the heart of
Baltimore’s downtown.
