    PROLOGGER PULSE
NCFA to Release ProLogger Module 22 in Late 2021
The NCFA is excited to announce the topics for the ProLogger Module 22 continuing education course. The course will be released later this year.
The ProLogger Program is back on schedule, running August 1 to August 1, with the NCFA and partners working hard to resume in-person classes post-COVID-19.
Each year, topics are chosen in response to actual logger needs. This year’s topics were chosen based on a need to review the complex elements involved in log deck operations and proper procedure at the mill.
Module 22 will begin with what to look for when deciding on where to place your log deck and its entrance, how to take into consideration soil compaction, BMPs for water quality, and what to do if you come across threatened and endangered species. Next, it will highlight safety concerns while you work on the log deck, including cover equipment maintenance and routine inspections, morning safety briefings, and signage on-site. Moving equipment to and from the deck is also a major element of this year’s training. ProLoggers will learn how to properly prepare, load, and tie down the heavy equipment and how to drive professionally
on a variety of roads, from the mountains
to the sandhills. The module will cover the proper 5-point felling, limb lock, and top lock techniques, and why it is important to wear properly fitting personal protective equipment (PPE). Finally, Module 22 will cover arrival at the mill and the importance of following all signage and PPE requirements.
The NCFA hopes that with coordination and safe practices, our partners will be able
to resume in-person ProLogger Module 22 classes later this year and throughout 2022. In the meantime, and for those who prefer a safe and convenient alternative, ProLogger Module 22 will be available online to give ProLoggers ample opportunity to view the course.
Online courses have received such positive feedback that the NCFA has decided to make all future ProLogger modules available online for those who prefer that format! You can refer to www.ncforestry.org/prologger/module- class-schedule for up-to-date information about how to take the course online and
find in-person classes as they are scheduled. Remember that the ProLogger module courses also qualify for Continuing Forestry Education (CFE) credit!
NCFA Creates Free CFE Credit Hours Opportunity!
Need a few more credit hours towards your certification? Get your CFE credit hours through the NCFA!
We have taken time to comb through all of our previous ProLogger modules and educational content to pull together several new,
interesting courses for our members. The courses can be used for general training purposes, as refresher courses, and to obtain CFE credit hours. All courses range in length from one to three hours and are comprised of different videos, speakers, and important information for anyone in the forestry industry. The courses will be available via ProLearn, the same online platform as the ProLogger module courses. And, best of all, they are free of charge to members. To take advantage of this ongoing opportunity, please reach out to the NCFA to get registered on ProLearn
if you do not already have an account. Please enjoy our selection of courses, and as always, feel free to contact the NCFA with any questions!
