In the U.S. House of Representatives,
all 10 members of the North Carolina Congressional Delegation running for reelection claimed victory on November
3. The seat formerly held by Congressman George Holding (R) will now by controlled by Deborah Ross (D). Kathy Manning
(D) defeated Lee Haywood (R) for the seat held by Congressman Mark Walker (R). The youngest member of the 117th Congress, Madison Cawthorn (R), beat Moe Davis (D) in the race for the seat vacated by Mark Meadows when he
assumed his role as Chief of Staff to President Donald J. Trump.
The implications of how a Biden presidency will affect the forestry sector will hinge on the actions taken by Congress and federal agencies to carry
out the President’s policy agenda. The Biden-Harris administration has already announced many regulatory and policy actions for climate change and air, water, and National Environmental Policy Act regulations.
