SPECIALTY: OPHTHALMOLOGY PRACTICE NAME: DELAWARE OPHTHALMOLOGY CONSULTANTS LOCATION: WILMINGTON/ MIDDLETOWN
What prompted you to decide to join MSD? When I arrived in Delaware in July of 1993, I was interviewed
for licensure by the Executive Director of the Delaware Board of Medical Practice, Dr. E. Wayne Martz, who also served as Editor of
the Delaware Medical Journal at that time. Dr. Martz was such an enthusiastic supporter of MSD that he not only recruited me to join the Society on the spot, but also asked me to submit an article to the Journal discussing advances in refractive surgery. I recall being contacted by the Society within 24 hours of my interview and joined immediately.
What is your hometown? I grew up in Penn Valley, a small community within Lower Merion Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. Now I live in Centreville, Delaware.
What made you come to Delaware? I was completing my Fellowship in Cornea and Refractive Surgery in St. Louis when I met my future partner, Robert Abel, Jr., MD, who came out to Missouri for a Refractive Surgery Symposium. Dr. Abel told me about the progressive eye care practice that he, Dr. Harry Lebowitz, and Dr. Ed Becker were

SPECIALTY: INTERNAL MEDICINE/ EMERGENCY MEDICINE (RESIDENT) PRACTICE NAME: CHRISTIANACARE LOCATION: NEWARK
What prompted you to decide
to join MSD? I wanted to join a community of medical professionals for my local area now that I am a new
resident of Delaware, to allow better understanding of the local medical community in terms of advocacy and policies.
What is your hometown? I am from Colorado Springs, Colorado. What made you come to Delaware? I’ve only lived in Delaware for
growing in Delaware and suggested that I come visit. I was hoping to come back East, and the opportunity to join Delaware Ophthalmology Consultants was ideal for me.
When did you decide to go into medicine and why? I don't ever recall making a decision to become a physician. I just knew from
early childhood that I wanted to be a doctor. But it wasn't until my second year of medical school that I realized the actual thrill and honor associated with caring for patients. The practice of medicine presents an
What do you like to do in your spare time? My spare time is focused on my family. My wife, daughter, and son are my weekend companions, sounding boards, inspirations, and teachers. We like to travel, ski, spend weekends at the beach, exercise, play, and listen to music, cook, and read.
What would you like to see MSD work on? MSD’s initiatives
are already so far-reaching, but I would like to see the Society help community-based medical practices recruit young, skilled physicians to Delaware. Our state has so much to offer young doctors, but is often overlooked when they are considering where to start their professional careers.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years? Hopefully, not wearing a mask! But, I hope to remain healthy and committed to serving patients to whatever extent I am able.
a relatively short time, so I’m still making up my mind, but I’ve liked it so far.
When did you decide to go into medicine and why? I wanted improving and helping my community.
What do you like to do in your spare time? I enjoy trying new restaurants and cuisines.
What would you like to see MSD work on? Allow engagement and forming a community among all Delaware physicians in training.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years? Hopefully practicing in some combination of emergency medicine and internal medicine.
