PRESIDENT’S REPORT
A report was provided from Andrew W. Dahlke, MD, President, on MSD activities since the beginning of his term in January 2019. He spoke mostly about legislative activities, citing continuing work on primary care access, with the goal to have 12% of the total cost of health care spending in Delaware on primary care services. He mentioned the implementation of the State’s benchmarking initiative, along with the increased use of claims data to measure value-based care. Dr. Dahlke
spoke of work being done in the state on maternal and child care and referenced the “fourth trimester” as an area of focus following birth. Discussion ensued as to the legislation MSD has been following, such as the minimum age for tobacco product purchases, prescription opioids, emergency department utilization, and codifying the Accountable Care Act (ACA) protections with the Delaware state code.
