    VIBHA SANWAL, MD
SPECIALTY: PEDIATRICS PRACTICE NAME: RAINBOW PEDIATRICS
LOCATIONS: GEORGETOWN AND LEWES
What prompted you to decide to join MSD? I was very impressed with the efforts that MSD put forth regarding
COVID, including updates, coordination with the state, and that non-members were included. Seeing the emails, website information, and notices that were released prompted me to return to MSD. I felt that being a part of a state medical society to prepare for the future is important.
What is your hometown? I am originally from India and now live in Lewes, DE.
What made you come to Delaware? I trained in New Jersey and moved to Delaware because there were positions available. I wanted to stay in the Northeast and, in 2001, I secured a position at Nemours. I enjoyed living in a beach town and wanted to stay in the area. I then joined Rainbow Pediatrics, the practice that my husband, Dr. Pankaj Sanwal, has opened.
VAMSHI KAVETI, MD
SPECIALTY: INTERNAL MEDICINE PRACTICE: CHRISTIANACARE HOSPITALIST PARTNERS LOCATION: NEWARK
What prompted you to decide to join MSD? I had heard about MSD through the COVID emails and I started posting my experiences on Facebook.
Dr. Selvam Mascarenhas read my works and suggested my name to the Medical Society to write an article in the DMJ.
What is your hometown? I am originally from Hyderabad, India and most of my family still resides there.
What made you come to Delaware? I came to the United States after medical school. My sister had already moved from India to New Jersey and spoke to me about training in the U.S., and the opportunities
in Health Administration; then I completed my residency at Crozer Chester Medical Center, where I was awarded for being top resident two times, and also received the Stephen Morgenstern award for excellence in patient care. After staying at Crozer an additional year as Chief Resident, I then went to Bayhealth as an attending for six years.
What made you go into medicine? I had always been interested in medicine. It was my dream job to care for patients and get a true joy from treating patients. In middle school, my favorite subjects included biology and the sciences.
What do you do in your spare time? In my spare time, I enjoy walking my two dogs, playing tennis, playing piano, and biking on the trails.
What would you like to see MSD work on? I think MSD should create forums/blogs where physicians can share ideas and learn from each other. As a small private practice, having opportunities to help one another is so valuable. I have reached out to other practices over the past few months to discuss how they are handling things and it was very helpful. MSD could be the convener in setting up an online forum or phone calls where we can help each other.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years? In 10 years, I see myself still practicing in private practice. We hope to grow and bring on more physicians to the practice. I see the advances in technology, such as televisits, and hope that the limitations that are currently present can for our population in this area and want to be able to work to help improve them.
At that time, I was living in Radnor, PA as my wife did her residency in Philadelphia. I am now with ChristianaCare in Newark and have moved to Chadds Ford, PA.
What made you go into medicine? I think the main reason I chose medicine as my career is because when I was younger, I was really fascinated by the world of medicine, and still am. Seeing people that need help and making them feel better is very gratifying for me.
What do you do in your spare time? In my spare time, I enjoy exercising/running. I am also a classically trained singer and love to dance!
What would you like to see MSD work on? To be frank, I am still new with MSD and still learning about the Society, but I am interested in the CME opportunities. Also, I feel that having the opportunities to that there are multiple physicians who live around me, who are dealing with the same experiences, and having a chance to support one another
Where do you see yourself in 10 years? I would like to see myself in a more advanced leadership role, working with young physicians. I enjoy supporting the young physicians in what they do and would like to do more in that capacity.
