Calling All Doctors – The Time Is Now
Editor’s Note: This is the Incoming Presidential address presented on November 23, 2019 at the Medical Society of Delaware Inaugural Gala.
Good evening and thank you for being here at the Annual Inaugural Gala.

thanking the Medical Society of Delaware, its Executive Board and
staff for a great annual meeting this morning, a wonderful evening, as well as everything you do for the Medical Society of Delaware throughout the year. I would like to especially thank Dr. Dahlke, Dr. Henderson, and Dr. Burday for the wisdom, commitment, and encouragement they have given me over the past few years.
Secondly, I would like to thank the organizations that are here tonight to support me: Flexion, the makers of ZILRETTA; Premier Physical Therapy; Prestige Medical; NovaCare Physical Therapy; as well as our Tilton Sponsors: Pivot Physical Therapy, Southern Delaware Imaging Associates, Youth in Sports, and First State Orthopaedics.
To the partners of First State

employing me in such a wonderful job

thank all of you for the support of my practice, my community involvement — whether it is with high school and college sports, the Youth in Sports TV show or
the Medical Society of Delaware — as well as with my personal and family life.
I would like to acknowledge two of
the original partners of First State Orthopaedics: Dr. William Newcomb and Dr. Michael Axe. Over three decades ago, as a relatively short, overweight but fairly athletic 12-year-old with a knee problem, I became a member of the
First State Orthopaedics family. After multiple surgeries and a lost dream of playing professional baseball, you both encouraged and supported me in a career of medicine. From letting me work

writing my letters of recommendation
for medical school, residency, and fellowship, I am forever thankful. But what I am most thankful for are your and physician who is committed to the Delaware community. Thank you both.

to thank my family. Over the past few years we have had our ups and downs, most of which have brought us closer. Here with me tonight is my father John, my mother-in-law Paulette, my brother- half, Lyndsay. Until recently, I never knew exactly how tough it was to be a father. Balancing your career and family
