 Five MSD members were recognized in a ceremony at Legislative Hall as leaders who have continuously served the Delaware Statewide Trauma System since its creation 20 years ago. They included: STEPHEN D. CAREY, MD, FACS of Nanticoke Memorial Hospital; ROSS MEGARGEL, DO, FACEP, DPH, the State EMS Medical Director; GLEN H. TINKOFF, MD, FACS and GERARD J. FULDA, MD, FACS of Christiana Care Health System; and JAMES P. MARVEL, JR. MD, FACS of Beebe Healthcare.
 ERIN KAVANAUGH, MD received the Emergency Medicine/Family Medicine Faculty of the Year Award at the Family Medicine
and Emergency Medicine/Family Medicine residency program graduation at Christiana Care Health System.
 Beebe Healthcare and Beebe Medical Foundation recognized SRIHARI PERI, MD, the Medical Director of the Tunnell Cancer Center, with the Philanthropy Award for his continued support of the Cancer Center and of the excellent care he provides to his patients. Dr. Peri, a board certified hematologist and medical oncologist, joined Beebe Healthcare in 1991 as the organization’s first full-time oncologist.

BAYHEALTH’S Marketing Communication Department earned
two national health care marketing awards through the Aster Awards, hosted by Marketing Healthcare Today Magazine and Creative Images, Inc. The monthly internal newsletter, Views, earned a Gold Award. The Magnet designation campaign of print advertisements, billboards, celebration events, photographs, and videos earned a Bronze Award.

BEEBE HEALTHCARE was recognized as a Health Champion by The American Diabetes Association. The designation recognizes companies that make health and wellness a priority for their employees by offering nutrition and weight management programs, promoting physical activity, and providing a wellness program.
Beebe Healthcare was named one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Coronary Intervention Procedures in 2017 by Healthgrades. The hospital system also received the Healthgrades Pulmonary Care Excellence Award for 2017.
CHRISTIANA CARE HEALTH SYSTEM
CHRISTIANA CARE HEALTH SYSTEM was honored as one of 60 US institutions for achieving “Meritorious” outcomes in surgical patient care by the American College of Surgeons. This is the fourth consecutive year that Christiana Care has been recognized through the organization’s National Surgical Quality Improvement Program.

The NANTICOKE HEALTH SERVICES Cardiovascular Rehabilitation Program has been certified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation.
NEMOURS/ALFRED I. DUPONT HOSPITAL FOR CHILDREN
NEMOURS/ALFRED I. DUPONT HOSPITAL FOR CHILDREN has been selected to participate in the National Institutes of Health seven-year Environmental influences on Child Health Outcomes (ECHO) initiative. The hospital will receive approximately $1.8 million over a four-year period to study factors that may influence health outcomes around the time of birth as well as into later childhood and adolescence.
A $400,000 grant from the Toy Industry Foundation will allow Nemours to explore the impact of trauma-informed patient care and the role of play in helping children and families heal and cope while in the hospital.
