turns them into reality, improving the quality, accessibility and experience of care, and connecting people to better health.
Virtual reality creates a better experience for cancer patients
Recognizing an opportunity to use technology to reduce the discomfort of chemotherapy for cancer patients, Christiana Care developed a virtual reality experience for patients at the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center & Research Institute. The technology eases suffering and creates a positive distraction that instills a sense of peace
and well-being, as patients can experience walking through a lush forest, climbing
sand dunes at the beach or gazing from a cliff into the Irish Sea. For this breakthrough innovation, Christiana Care received the prestigious 2018 Magnet Prize from the American Nurses Credentialing Center. The
technology is being expanded to other areas of the health system.
